JUSTIN ADAMS & MAURO DURANTE / KRSTE RODŽEVSKI

Master musicians from different backgrounds, Justin Adams and Mauro Durante are united by their deep connection to ancient trance music. Justin Adams, guitarist, producer and composer, started his career in the days of post-punk but has since infused his playing with old blues, Arabic and African music, folk and more, working along the way with artists like Jah Wobble, Tinariwen and Robert Plant, being a chief collaborator in his band, the Sensational Spaceshifters, co-writing a series of 4 albums and touring the world. This new collaboration with Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino violinist/percussionist Mauro Durante stems from a concert led by Ludovico Einaudi, the Notte della Taranta in Puglia, where the two first played together, recognising kindred spirits in the trance rhythms of Taranta. Together they create a raw, stripped-back sound that moves and mesmerizes, simple melodies and haunting repetitive patterns equally suited to dancing and daydreaming. Their beautiful debut “Still Moving” was recorded in one session, straight to tape, between 2020 lockdowns.

Krste Rodzevski is a Macedonian-born vocalist, guitarist, and composer, who has been active in the downtown avant-garde scene since relocating to New York City in the late ’90s. These are conceptual albums of insight-oriented lyrics and electroacoustic sound, infused with experimental and free jazz elements. His collaborators are some of the preeminent names of NY’s jazz-improv and experimental scene (Bill Laswell, Tomeka Reid, Kris Davis, Ikue Mori, Mary Halvorson, Ingrid Laubrock, Tomas Fujiwara, Kirk Knuffke, Chris Speed, etc.) as well as superb representatives of the modern Chicago scene (Jeff Parker, Nicole Mitchel, Ken Vandermark, etc.).  His solo acoustic concert will include song versions in a pure, naive, and free of studio-manipulation form.
