YORDAN KOSTOV MAGLOTA SEXTET + “ST. ZLATA MEGLENSKA” CHOIR

Maglota Album Promotion: A Global Live Musical Dialogue

Macedonian Philharmonic

June 30, 2025

8:00 PM

Don’t miss a concert unlike anything else on the local scene – a one-of-a-kind musical journey guided by virtuosity, curiosity and a deep love for sound.
Imagine a sound that travels from the Balkans through Asia, the African-American musical tradition, and all the way to South America. Imagine a music that recognizes no genre or geographical boundaries – but instead transcends them, blending traditions, instruments and cultures into an organic world jazz fusion.
The Yordan Kostov Maglota Sextet, led by Macedonian accordionist and composer Yordan Kostov, creates a unique musical universe that connects the Orient and West, folklore and the avant-garde, improvisation and composition. A special highlight of the concert will be the collaboration with the “St. Zlata Meglenska” Choir, conducted by Letka Dimovska – Polizova, which will bring a rich vocal dimension to this expansive, trans-spatial sonic tapestry.

Yordan Kostov Maglota Sextet:
• Yordan Kostov: accordion (Macedonia)
• Minh-Trang Nguyen: zither, t’rưng and đàn bầu (Vietnam)
• Roman Stolyar: piano (Russia)
• Bruno Dozzi Tezza: electric bass guitar (Brazil)
• Brenda Ohana: marimba, drums and percussion (Brazil)
• Feng Hao: drums (Shanghai, China)
Choir “St. Zlata Meglenska” (Macedonia)

The music you’ll hear will be a hybrid of Oriental-Balkan jazz fusion, psychedelic ambience and global folklore, shaped through the practices of improvisation and deep intercultural empathy.
