Over the course of several thrilling albums and extensive touring activity, Bixiga 70 has become one of the most acclaimed, exciting and influential exponents of contemporary Afro-Brazilian sounds today. Formed in São Paulo, the mesmerizing Brazilian instrumental combo takes its name from the cultural melting pot of their home base – vibrant Bixiga neighborhood, where their recording studio is located on the bustling main street, at number 70. The music of Bixiga 70 is a captivating fusion of diverse Brazilian rhythms and influences. Drawing inspiration from the immense variety of rhythms found in Brazil, their sound encompasses an eclectic mix of styles that span the country’s rich musical heritage. From the infectious beats of samba and the grooves of funk to the pulsating energy of forró and the intricate melodies of choro, Bixiga 70 weaves together these elements to create a truly unique and immersive musical experience. From their inception, the band has been a true collective, sharing songwriting duties and the running of their recording studio. Their team spirit is evident on stage, from the tightly knit rhythm section in the back to the powerful horn section at the front. This autumn, Bixiga 70 return with an ecstatic 5th album “Vapor”, their first in four years. More than a return, Vapor is a rebirth for Bixiga 70, with the exuberance of a party; ten people who are happy to be playing together and find a release of energy in their music.
